Avril H. Farris

Dec. 31, 1919 - Sept. 20, 2007

Avril H. Farris, 87, of Mukwonago, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at LindenGrove in Mukwonago. He was born Dec. 31, 1919, on a farm near Sauk City, the son of Herbert and Mary Farris.

On Aug. 16, 1943, he married Loraine Rintelman in New Bedford, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was a dean of occupational sciences at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

He was a member of the Laflin/James Lodge #247 F. & A.M. and the Mukwonago Kiwanis. He was also a member of the United Unitarian & Universalist Society of Mukwonago.

He is survived by his wife, Loraine; daughter, Janet Lynn Thompson; grandson, Zakary Thompson; and sisters, Avis Annen and Karen Faye Blum.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sylvandean.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 5 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Sept. 23, at Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago. The Rev. Dr. Marcia Marino will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral and Cremation Services of Mukwonago, 363-7126, is serving the family.

May 9, 1949, Laflin Lodge #247, now Laflin St. James Lodge, elected Brother Farris to receive the degrees of Masonry.  He was initiated an Entered Apprentice May 17, passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft September 16, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason October 24, 1949.  Brother Farris served his Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1958.

Masonic Funeral at the funeral home:  5:00 p.m. September 23; supper at Masonic Center by Eastern Star after funeral.  Graveside service September 24; Brothers assemble at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home for procession to the cemetary.

Brother Willard R. Stubbs has died after battling lung cancer. He was born in Waukesha January 12, 1934, the son of Claude and Emma Stubbs. He was married to Janice A. Stubbs.

March 26, 1963 St. James Lodge #41, East Troy, elected Brother Stubbs to receive the degrees of Masonry. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice April 9, 1963; passed to the degree of Fellow Craft September 24 of that year; and on November 12 he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason. In 1970 he served his Lodge as Worshipful Master. April 10, 2001, St. James Lodge merged with Laflin Lodge #247 of Mukwonago to form Laflin St. James Lodge #247, Mukwonago.

His work completed, Brother Stubbs departed for his long home August 13, 2007.
